The currently known oldest traces of the family lead back
to around 1680 to the city of Delft. At that time the surname of the
family was Vinck. This changed about 1750 into Vink. Between 1750
and 1780 the family moved to Wassenaar and subsequently to Katwijk a/d Rijn. In
both villages, the family is known as farmers.
Leonardus Cornelis Simonis Vink (1835 - 1862)
was farmer in
Katwijk a/d Rijn but also forest warden of the domain of the baron van Kattendieck.
He knew that poaching took place, but did not denounce the poachers. The
poachers knew that he was informed on their activities and tied him onto a
shelf and suspended hin head down on a bridge. When he was found, he was
brought to the hospital where he survived for 2 hours. When asked, he did
not reveal the names of those involved. The baron donated his grave in
Katwijk aan the Rijn where, until recently when his grave has been
cleared, he was still resting in peace.
His son Hubertus was the first actif in woodwoorking and moved in 1886
to 's-Gravenhage. Another son Simon
had a milkshop in 's-Gravenhage. Hubertus married Alida van der
Roest and they had 4 children, amongst with Leonardus Adrianus Arnoldus,
who set himself up as a cartwright in Loosduinen. His father
Hubertus was also actif in his workshop. |
